চেন্নাই-এর বন্যা বিধ্বস্ত পরিস্থিতি খতিয়ে দেখলেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী।আজ তিনি বৃষ্টি ও বন্যা পরিস্থিতির ফলে তামিলনাডুর ক্ষয়ক্ষতির পরিমাণ নিরূপণ করতে আকাশপথে চেন্নাই সফরে যান।ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত চেন্নাই, কাঞ্চিপুরম ও তিরুভাল্লার জেলাগুলি তিনি বিমানে সমীক্ষা করে দেখেন।রাজ্যের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী শ্রীমতী জয়ললিতার সঙ্গেও তিনি পরিস্থিতির পর্যালোচনা করেন।
সফর শেষে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, “অতিবৃষ্টির ফলে ক্ষয়ক্ষতি ও দুর্দশার পরিস্থিতি আমি প্রত্যক্ষ করেছি।এই সংকটের মূহুর্তে কেন্দ্রীয় সরকার রয়েছে তামিলনাডুর জনসাধারণের সঙ্গেই।আশু কেন্দ্রীয় ত্রাণ সাহায্য বাবদ তামিলনাডু’কে ১ হাজার কোটি টাকা দেওয়ার নির্দেশ আমি দিয়েছি।এই অর্থ আগে মঞ্জুর করা ৯৪০ কোটি টাকার অতিরিক্ত”।
