নেদারল্যান্ডস সফরে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শ্রী নরেন্দ্র মোদী দ্য হেগ শহরে ভারতীয়দের একটি সমাবেশে ভাষণ দিলেন। তাঁকে উষ্ণ অভ্যর্থনা জনানো হয় সেখানে।
প্রধানমন্ত্রী তাঁর ভাষণে ডাচ সমাজে ভারতীয়দের অবদানের কথা তুলে ধরেন। সেখানে বসবাসরত ভারতীয়রা
ভারত ও নেদারল্যান্ডসের মধ্যে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ যোগসূত্র বলে উল্লেখ করেন তিনি। সুরিনামি-হিন্দুস্তানি গোষ্ঠীর অবদানের কথা তুলে ধরেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। নেদারল্যান্ডসের প্রযুক্তির ক্ষেত্রে ভারতীয়দের অবদানের পাশাপাশি ক্রিকেট এবং হকিও দুদেশের বন্ধনকে জোরদার করেছে বলে তাঁর মন্তব্য।
প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন যে, ভারত এবং নেদারল্যান্ডসের সম্পর্ক ক্রমেই প্রসারিত হচ্ছে। ভারত-ইইউ মুক্ত বাণিজ্য চুক্তি দ্বিপাক্ষিক অংশীদারিত্ব আরও সুদৃঢ় করবে বলে তিনি আশাবাদী। ২০৪৭ নাগাদ উন্নত দেশ হয়ে ওঠার যাত্রায় ভারত দ্রুত গতিতে এগিয়ে চলেছে বলে ফের উল্লেখ করে প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেন, সারা বিশ্বের উন্নতিতেই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান রাখতে চায় এই দেশ। এক্ষেত্রে নেদারল্যান্ডসে বসবাসরত ভারতীয়দের বিশেষ ভূমিকা রয়েছে বলে তিনি মনে করিয়ে দেন।
প্রধানমন্ত্রী আরও বলেন যে, ইউরোপের মূল ভূখণ্ডের দেশগুলির মধ্যে নেদারল্যান্ডসেই সবচেয়ে বেশি সংখ্যক ভারতীয় রয়েছেন। সুরিনামি-হিন্দুস্তানি গোষ্ঠীর সদস্য সংখ্যা ২ লক্ষের বেশি। এঁদের জন্য ভারত সরকারের ওসিআই কর্মসূচি বিশেষ সুবিধাজনক বলে প্রধানমন্ত্রী উল্লেখ করেছেন। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর মূল ভাষণটি দেখতে এই লিঙ্কটি দেখুন –
