এক বার্তায় প্রধানমন্ত্রী বলেছেন, “ভগবান বুদ্ধের শিক্ষা একুশ শতকেও সমান প্রাসঙ্গিক। সমাজ থেকে অন্যায় ও দুঃখ-দুর্দশা দূরীকরণের কাজে তিনি নিজেকে উৎসর্গ করেছিলেন। তাঁর করুণার জন্যই তিনি লক্ষ লক্ষ মানুষের কাছে প্রিয় হয়ে উঠেছিলেন। প্রত্যেককে বুদ্ধ পূর্ণিমার শুভেচ্ছা”।
