Shri Narendra Modi was unanimously elected leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party. Shri Modi’s name was proposed by Shri LK Advani. Shri Modi paid his tributes to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who did not attend the meeting due to his health, and said that the party had Atal ji’s blessings.

Shri Modi thanked Party workers and senior leaders and affirmed that the NDA government will be a government dedicated to the poor, youth and women. And in a unique bipartisan gesture Shri Modi congratulated all previous Governments and their leaders saying “Neither I nor BJP feels past governments did nothing. Every government served the nation in some way or the other. I congratulate all previous governments and their leaders. We will take their good work ahead and aspire to do even better.”

The Parliamentary Party meet was followed by the NDA Parliamentary meet which was attended by allies including Shri Parkash Singh Badal, Shri Uddhav Thackeray, Shri Chandrababu Naidu, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Shri Upendra Khushwaha, Shri Vijaykanth, Shri Ramadoss, Shri Kuldeep Bishnoi, Shri Rangaswami, Shri Pawan Kalyan, Ms. Anupriya Patel, Shri PA Sangma & Shri Rio.
