ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਨਰੇਂਦਰ ਮੋਦੀ ਨੇ ਸੰਸਦ ਦੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਸਦਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਕਫ਼ (ਸੰਸ਼ੋਧਨ) ਬਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਵਕਫ਼ (ਮਨਸੂਖੀ) ਬਿਲ (Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill) ਪਾਸ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਅੱਜ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ੰਸਾ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ-ਆਰਥਿਕ ਨਿਆਂ, ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਵੇਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਮੂਹਿਕ ਖੋਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਖਿਣ (watershed moment) ਹੈ।
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਐਕਸ (X) ‘ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਥ੍ਰੈੱਡ ਪੋਸਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਲਿਖਿਆ:
“ਸੰਸਦ ਦੇ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਸਦਨਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਵਕਫ਼ (ਸੰਸ਼ੋਧਨ) ਬਿਲ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਵਕਫ਼ (ਮਨਸੂਖੀ) ਬਿਲ (Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill) ਪਾਸ ਹੋਣਾ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ-ਆਰਥਿਕ ਨਿਆਂ, ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਵੇਸ਼ੀ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਦੀ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਮੂਹਿਕ ਖੋਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਖਿਣ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ ਜੋ ਲੰਬੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੋਂ ਹਾਸ਼ੀਏ ‘ਤੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਵਾਜ਼ ਅਤੇ ਅਵਸਰ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੰਚਿਤ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।”
“ਸੰਸਦੀ ਅਤੇ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਚਰਚਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸਾਂਸਦਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਭਾਰ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਵਿਅਕਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਸੰਸਦੀ ਕਮੇਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਹੁਮੁੱਲੇ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਭੇਜਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਭੀ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਆਭਾਰ। ਇੱਕ ਵਾਰ ਫਿਰ, ਵਿਆਪਕ ਬਹਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਮਹੱਤਵ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ।”
“ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਵਕਫ਼ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਵਾਬਦੇਹੀ ਦੀ ਕਮੀ ਦੀ ਸਮਾਨਾਰਥੀ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮੁਸਲਿਮ ਮਹਿਲਾਵਾਂ, ਗ਼ਰੀਬ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਪਸਮਾਂਦਾ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨਾਂ (Muslim women, poor Muslims, Pasmanda Muslims) ਦੇ ਹਿਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸੰਸਦ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਪਾਸ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਪਾਰਦਰਸ਼ਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਲਾਰਾ ਦੇਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਭੀ ਕਰਨਗੇ।”
“ਹੁਣ ਅਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਐਸੇ ਯੁਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵਿਵਸਥਾ (framework) ਅਧਿਕ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਸੰਵੇਦਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਵਿਆਪਕ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ, ਅਸੀਂ ਹਰੇਕ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਦੀ ਗਰਿਮਾ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਥਮਿਕਤਾ ਦੇਣ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਬੱਧ ਹਾਂ। ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ, ਅਧਿਕ ਸਮਾਵੇਸ਼ੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਧਿਕ ਹਮਦਰਦੀ ਰੱਖਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਭੀ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।”

For decades, the Waqf system was synonymous with lack of transparency and accountability. This especially harmed the interests of Muslim women, poor Muslims, Pasmanda Muslims. The legislations passed by Parliament will boost transparency and also safeguard people’s rights.
