भारतीय घटनेचे शिल्पकार बाबासाहेब आंबेडकर यांच्या 125व्या जयंती दिनानिमित्त, पंतप्रधान नरेंद्र मोदी यांनी महू या बाबासाहेबांच्या जन्मस्थानी पुष्पांजली अर्पण केली.
महू येथील एका जाहीर सभेत पंतप्रधानांनी “ग्रामोदय से भारत उदय” मोहिमेचा शुभारंभ केला. आजच्या पवित्र दिनी महूमध्ये उपस्थित राहण्याची संधी मिळाली, हे विशेष असल्याचे पंतप्रधानांनी सांगितले. डॉ. आंबेडकर यांनी समाजातल्या अन्यायाविरुध्द लढा दिल्याच्या आठवणीना पंतप्रधानांनी उजाळा दिला. त्यांचा लढा हा समानता आणि प्रतिष्ठेसाठी होता, असे पंतप्रधानांनी सांगितले.
14 ते 24 एप्रिल 2016 दरम्यान होणाऱ्या “ग्रामोदय से भारत उदय” मोहिमेत गावात करायच्या विकास कामांवर लक्ष केंद्रीत करण्यात येईल, असे पंतप्रधानांनी सांगितले. या वर्षीचा केंद्रीय अर्थसंकल्प शेतकरी आणि खेडेगावांना समर्पित असल्याचे ते म्हणाले. विकास उपक्रमांचा केंद्रबिंदू ग्रामीण विकास असला पाहिजे असे त्यांनी सांगितले.
केंद्र सरकारने हाती घेतलेल्या विकास उपक्रमांबाबत बोलतांना पंतप्रधानांनी सांगितले की, 1 हजार दिवसांच्या मुदतीत, वीज न पोहचलेल्या गावांचे विद्युतीकरण करण्यात येणार आहे आणि हे लक्ष्य साध्य करण्यासाठी झालेली प्रगती GATV ॲपवर लोकांना पाहता येईल असेही त्यांनी सांगितले. गावांमध्ये डिजिटल जोडणी आवश्यक असल्याचे ते म्हणाले.
शेतकऱ्यांचे उत्पन्न दुप्पट करण्याच्या उद्दिष्टाचा पंतप्रधानांनी उल्लेख केला आणि राज संस्था अधिक शक्तीशाली व्हायला हव्यात असे पंतप्रधान म्हणाले. ग्रामीण जनतेची क्रयशक्ती वाढविली पाहिजे, ज्यामुळे भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्थेला ताकद मिळेल असे सांगितले.
